Toerisme Ekspo neem besoekers 'oor grense'

Frank Steffen - Ondanks die swaar reëns in die hoofstad is voorbereidings vir die jaarlikse Toerisme Ekspo – wat vanaf môre tot 28 April by die Windhoek Buiteklub aangebied word – in volle swang. Geen reën word tans vir môre, Donderdag en Vrydag voorspel nie.

Die geleentheid stel uitstallers in staat om hul produkte en dienste te bemark voor die hoogseisoen vir toerisme in Namibië afskop. Dit is 'n ideale geleentheid om rolspelers in die toerismebedryf byeen te bring, of dit nou lede van die gasvryheidsektor is of verskaffers van goedere en/of dienste.

Vanjaar se tema is “Beyond Borders” – wat oor volgende vier jaar verder verken en uitgebrei sal word, aangesien Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) as organiseerder van die Toerisme Ekspo ’n doelwit het om rolspelers in die toerismebedryf van Namibië en dié van buurlande bymekaar te bring. As sodanig sal ekspogangers byvoorbeeld weer Suid-Afrikaanse wyne kan proe terwyl hulle oorgrensreise beplan.

Hierdie jaar lê die fokus op vier gebiede wat nie net deur Namibië se grense met buurlande verbind word nie, maar die volgende oorgrensparke huisves: Die /Ai-/Ais!/Richtersveld-oorgrenspark, wat oor 'n groot deel van die Sukkulente Karoo-bioom strek en Namibië met Suid-Afrika verbind; die Kgalagadi-oorgrenspark, wat Namibië nie amptelik insluit nie, maar Namibië met Botswana en Suid-Afrika via 'n direkte grenspunt verbind; die Iona-Skedelkus-oorgrenspark, wat gevorm word deur die noordwestelike Namibwoestyn wat in Angolese grondgebied inloop; asook die Kavango-Zambezi-oorgrensbewaringsgebied (Kaza TFCA), waarvan die noordoostelike dele van Namibië deel vorm.
