African Stars offload players
Club reshuffles
Debmarine Namibia Premiership champions African Stars have started planning ahead for next season.
African Stars Football Club has announced the release of a number of players in order to make room for new players.
The 2022–23 Debmarine Namibia Premiership champions deemed it fit to make sure that they released the players as early as possible.
Stars believe this will give the players enough time to find new clubs before the start of next season.
Tjiuana-Tja Tjatindi, Ratanda Mbazuvara, Jandjamuje Maharero and Hiha Katjivena have been released by the club.
"African Stars wishes to announce the release of the players to join a club of their choice.
"Stars thank you for your contribution to the title-winning season and wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Your names are etched in the ‘Okaserandu’ Folklore," the club said in a statement.
Big season
The offloaded players experienced little game time under coach Mervin Mbakera and were not often seen playing regular football in the Premier League last season.
The club, which signalled its CAF ambitions earlier on, is expected to beef up the squad ahead of the next football season.
Stars was one of the clubs that made big-name signings last season, and this helped them grab the title.
The club had a great season after losing only one match throughout and winning the league 12-points ahead of chasers Blue Waters FC.
Stars secured 73 points throughout the season after dominating teams home and away in the Premier League.
The club received N$600 000 for winning the title, while Blue Waters FC received N$400 000 for their efforts.
The competition next season will be expected to be tighter, as most clubs will be eager to dethrone ‘The Reds’.
