Strong performances at Pointbreak open water swim

The Pointbreak Open Water Swim delivered an exciting weekend of racing at Lake Oanob Resort, with swimmers from across Namibia taking part in the annual event organised by OTB Sport.The standout performance came from Namibian Olympian Phillip Seidler, who dominated the longer distances. Seidler won the 5 km race on Saturday in a time of 1:02:00 and followed it up with another victory in the 2.1km race on Sunday, finishing in 24:54.In the 5km event, Dentie Louw finished second in 1:30:40, while Samuel Swartz, just 14 years old, delivered an impressive performance to take third place in 1:30:52.The 2.1 km race saw international triathlete Luke Holmes finish second in 26:05, closely behind Seidler, while Liam Kinnaird secured third place overall in 29:12.The 700m sprint race produced a fast finish, with Dentie Louw taking first place in 12:12, followed by Matt Reece Izaaks in second with a time of 12:29, and Scarlett McNamara in third in 12:40.Speaking after the event, Seidler praised the organisation and atmosphere of the competition.“The Pointbreak Open Water Swim is always a fantastic event. It’s extremely well organised and gives swimmers valuable opportunities to race locally,” he said.He also highlighted the Pointbreak Challenge, where swimmers who compete in all three distances receive their entry fee back in OTB vouchers, describing it as “a great initiative that encourages athletes to challenge themselves over the full weekend”.Event organisers OTB Sport extended their sincere thanks to Pointbreak for their continued sponsorship and long-standing commitment to the event. Their support over the years has played an important role in growing open water swimming in Namibia and helping the competition remain one of the country’s leading open water events.The organisers also thanked all swimmers, volunteers and supporters who contributed to another memorable weekend of racing.
