Du Plessis secures first place
Monique du Plessis expressed excitement after finishing first in the under-23 category at the first Nedbank Mountain Bike cross-country competition of the season.
The 19-year-old has attributed her latest success to hard work and commitment.
“It was so lovely today. I am so happy with the outcome, I enjoyed the climbing up and down the mountain,” Du Plessis remarked.
Du Plessis said she was looking forward to competing in another competition later on.
The women who took part were from the age of 16 all the way to 40.
One of the veterans, Eleanor Grassow, hinted at a great cycling season.
“It was a very fun track, not very technical, so it was super amazing and it was great to start the season with a fun track. It was also great to see that a lot of ladies took part in the race. At the beginning it was very hard but once you find you rhythm and get the hang of things, everything becomes easier.,” Grassow said.
The event also saw several men competing for top honours.
