Women's U20 team determined to impress at Cosafa Champs

The Namibian U20 national women’s team will be hoping to maximise on their home advantage in this year’s edition of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) U20 Championship after missing out in November last year. Namibia will take on Mozambique, Botswana and Zimbabwe in their group A fixtures at the Region 5 Games in Windhoek from 4 to 13 July. “The group stage will not be easy, but we are determined to ensure that we go through. The team looks good. We have a few players who played in the Cosafa U17 Girls Championship in May. They understand the pressure that comes with playing international games,” said assistant coach Errol Damaseb.Women's football is making strides in Namibia, with young girls playing more competitive football and gradually taking up space in the national teams. Nancy Lebang, who was the top goal scorer at the Cosafa U17 Girls Championship, also forms part of the squad. Other notable players are Nanami Uarije, Debora Vries, Grace Eises, Joy Goses and Renald Damara.
