Windhoek High, Walvis Bay Private claim Super Saturday wins

Windhoek High School kept their Momentum MYZONE NSSR League U19 Premier League title hopes alive with a hard-fought 38–32 victory over Swakopmund Pro-Ed Academy during Super Saturday in Walvis Bay, while hosts Walvis Bay Private School staged a second-half comeback to defeat Elnatan Private School 14–7.

The two Premier League fixtures were played at Naartjie Park as part of the Momentum MYZONE NSSR League Super Saturday programme.

The opening encounter saw Windhoek High School edge Pro-Ed Academy 38–32 in a fiercely contested battle. Pro-Ed made the stronger start and opened the scoring, but the boys in blue and white responded to take a 19–15 lead into the half-time break.

The contest remained evenly poised after the restart, with both teams trading scores before Windhoek High held their nerve to seal an important six-point victory.

The win keeps Windhoek High firmly in the title race. They remain fifth on the standings with 34 points from just five matches, leaving them with games in hand on several of the teams above them.

Windhoek High School captain Isaiah Kazondovi praised his teammates for their resilience."I'm very proud of our boys. Things didn't go our way, but we kept fighting. Pro-Ed is a great team this year and they really brought the fight. We'll see how the league goes from here. Next up is Windhoek Gymnasium, but ultimately it's back to the drawing board for us."

In the day's second Premier League fixture, Walvis Bay Private School fought back from a half-time deficit to overcome Elnatan Private School 14–7.

Elnatan made the brighter start and carried a 7–0 lead into the break, but the hosts produced a spirited second-half performance, scoring two converted tries to complete the comeback.

Walvis Bay Private School captain Johan van Wyk credited his side's determination after the victory. "I'm very glad we pulled through in the end. We showed that we can win tough matches."

Van Wyk said the team would now turn its attention to an away fixture against Tsumeb Gymnasium in Outjo."I'm excited for that one. We just have to build on the momentum."

Elsewhere in the Super Saturday fixtures, OK Foods Moria boosted their title ambitions with a 36–26 victory over league leaders Autohaus W.A.P. in Outjo, closing the gap on the front-runners while handing W.A.P. only their second defeat of the campaign. King Price Windhoek Gymnasium produced the day's biggest winning margin with an emphatic 96–26 victory over Karstveld, strengthening their position despite having played fewer matches than most of the teams above them.
