Police championships set for Otjiwarongo

The Namibian Police Force regional teams have their sights set on claiming the Regional Police Championship title as they converge for the tournament this coming weekend.
The championships will be played in the Otjozondjupa Region, in Otjiwarongo, as all regional police teams target bragging rights.
It will be the force’s 28th edition, with many activities scheduled to take place at Paresis Secondary School.
The police sports championship is an annual event that enables police officers from across the country to showcase their sporting talents.
The different regional teams and individuals will compete in football (men and women), netball, volleyball, pool, darts, athletics and chess.
For the first time, this year’s event will also include a rugby sevens competition between the regional forces.
“These are going to be big games that will be taking place in Otjiwarongo this coming weekend.
“All police regional teams will meet in the town to challenge for bragging rights.
“I can say that everything has been organised and it is all systems go as we prepare for this year’s edition,” said Fortune Eichab.
Khomas Ready
One of the coaches of the Khomas regional team, Samuel Mujoro, said the team has been preparing well for the event.
Speaking to this publication from the Namibia Football Association (NFA) technical field in Windhoek, Mujoro said the teams have selected players from various areas across the Khomas Region.
“We are busy preparing the players here at the NFA Technical Centre because of the big competition coming up.
“The spirit at the training ground is high and we are confident that the team will do well in Otjiwarongo.
“What we have done is select players from different towns in the Khomas Region, with the focus not only on Windhoek.
“I can say everyone is looking forward to this competition, as it brings everyone together,” Mujoro said.
