Organisers hail Okapya tourney

The recent Okapya football tournament in Ondangwa attracted large crowds and top football action during the festive season.
Tournament organiser Sandro Ithana has described the festive tourney as a resounding success.
The annual four-day event was hosted at Eleven Morning Stars, located close to Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport, and attracted roughly 2000 visitors.
“I think it’s important to note how this amazing tournament has been growing from strength to strength. I want to thank all those who made it possible, because it has indeed produced some memorable action,” Ithana said.
Runs United were crowned the new champions of football tournament after beating former champions Tse Yakuku 7-6 on penalties, when the final finished as a 1-1 draw in regular time.
United emerged took home N$20,000, 18 gold medals, a trophy, and a brand-new football uniform sponsored by Pupkewitz Goldwagen.
Tse Yakuku FC was compensated with N$10,000, 18 silver medals, and a brand-new football uniform also sponsored by Pupkewitz. Goldwagen.
In third place, Alv Consulting Engineers FC won N$5000 and an 18 Bronze Medal, while Golden Stars took home N$5000 for finishing fourth.
Runs United dominate the individual prizes, with Michael Jonas (Bwebwe) awarded the player of the tournament and taking home a trophy and N$3000.
Sem Ndahangwapo (Ndex), another member of Runs United, shared the top goal-scorer title with Michael Jonas and they received N$1000 each.
Kibbo FC won N$2000 for being the most disciplined team, and Jafet Kaulinge of Runs United won N$500 for being the best goalkeeper.
