NTTA schools league backed with N$50 000 sponsorship

The Namibia Table Tennis Association (NTTA) has secured a N$50 000 sponsorship from aviation company Central Oil Namibia to support the national schools league over the next three years.Held in Windhoek last week, the announcement and unveiling took place at the Namibia Table Tennis Academy.Speaking at the occasion, NTTA president Rudi Saunderson expressed gratitude to Central Oil Namibia for the generous support, calling it a major investment in the sport.“The impact of this support for table tennis is substantial, as it makes it possible for us to have another national league in the country. Central Oil Namibia’s support not only promotes table tennis, but also encourages teamwork. We are going to see a lot of healthy new rivalries emerge from this sponsorship,” he said.Contributes to finding world championSaunderson highlighted that the biggest impact of the sponsorship is that the league will expand across Namibia, allowing the NTTA to introduce table tennis to more schools in different regions.“The growth in table tennis that we expect will be quite substantial. I firmly believe that Namibia has a future world champion – we just have to find them. This sponsorship plays a crucial role in making that possible, and we are excited to see if this round will reveal that champion,” he said.Central Oil Namibia representative Leo Iita, who serves as the company’s site supervisor in the operations and administration department, said it is a great honour and privilege to assist the NTTA.“At Central Oil, we believe that sports is a fundamental part of growing up and plays a crucial role in early childhood development. Two of the most important aspects of life are victory and failure, and what better way to become acquainted with these realities than through sports?” he remarked.Iita added that sports can be the foundation for great achievements. “Sports instils qualities like persistence, confidence and an understanding of the journey – how small efforts contribute to a greater goal over time. It also helps individuals channel their emotions and frustrations in a constructive way.
