NTTA junior champs in preparation for Youth Games

Namibia Table Tennis Association (NTTA) recently held its junior championships as preparation for the upcoming African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games, set to take place in Swakopmund and Windhoek from 4 to 13 July.
Hosted at Windhoek’s Wanderers Sports Hall and sponsored by Phoenix Namibia Assurance Company, the competition saw promising youngsters battle it out across the under-13, under-15 and under-19 categories for top honours.
In the under-19 category, Lian Gebauer and Caden Bosman reigned supreme, clinching gold in the girls’ and boys’ singles, respectively.
Gebauer was followed in the girls’ singles by Cadence Farmer, who claimed silver, while Karolina Shigwedha and Justina Amupolo shared the bronze medal.
In the boys’ singles, Bosman was followed by silver medallist Kamrouz Ghayouri, with Pascal Esselein and Agape Chicalu taking bronze.
U15 champions
There were also outstanding performances in the under-15 singles.
Girls singles: 1 Cadence Farmer, 2 Suverasaneje Ikorua, 3 Karolina Shigwedha, 3 Justina Amupolo.
Boys singles: 1 Kevin Zhang, 2 Kamrouz Ghayouri, 3 Jason Kadandara, 3 Agape Chicalu.
U13 champions
Girls singles: 1 Kelly Zhang, 2 Ester Nelenge, 3 Imani Urion, 3 Sabina Shanika.
Boys singles: 1 Fillemon Ikanda, 2 Terence Kadandara, 3 Daniel Beukes, 3 Natanael Dayelai.
Doubles champions
Girls: 1 Lian/Cadence, 2 Karolina/Justina, 3 Ester/Suverasaneje, 3 Kelly/Imani.
Boys: 1 Kamrouz/Kevin, 2 Caden/Pascal, 3 Sakaria/Daniel, 3 Jason/Agape.
Mixed doubles champions
1 Lian/Kamrouz, 2 Fillemon/Justina, 3 Cadence/Kevin, Jason/Kelly.
Competition organiser Taschiona !Gawaxab said the NTTA senior championship is scheduled to take place at the same venue on 21 June.
