Nedbank Citi Dash 2025 revamped and ready to inspire
Road running
Top-performing schools will win cash prizes, while schools entering 20 or more runners qualify for lucky draw rewards, all to boost youth participation.
The highly anticipated Nedbank Citi Dash is back for its fifth edition with a bold new look and energy, promising to be bigger, better, and greener than ever before. The event was officially launched yesterday morning at the Nedbank Campus in Windhoek and is scheduled to take place over the weekend of 6 and 7 September 2025 at the Vegkop Stadium, Windhoek High School.
This year’s edition introduces several exciting changes, including a brand-new venue, revamped 5 km and 10 km routes through Windhoek’s city centre, and the launch of the LiveXpo, a festival-style race village experience. From elite athletes aiming for podium finishes to families and schoolchildren embracing fun and fitness, Citi Dash promises something for everyone.
Speaking at the launch, Nedbank Namibia Chief Commercial Officer, JG van Graan, highlighted the bank’s commitment to innovation and community development.
“This year, once again, we’ve ensured that we curate a running experience that can go head-to-head with some of the best on the continent,” said van Graan. “We continue to innovate and have upgraded the race to keep up with international running trends. But we are keeping the Citi Dash’s unique aura. From elite runners chasing fast times to families coming out to create memorable moments, there’s something for everyone.”
Weekend programme
On Saturday, 6 September, the action begins with the LiveXpo at Vegkop Stadium, a vibrant hub of exhibitors, vendors, food stalls, entertainment, and health and lifestyle experiences.
The main event follows on Sunday, 7 September, when thousands of runners will take to the streets for the 10 km elite race, 10 km fun run, and 5 km fun run. Over 5,000 participants are expected, a significant increase from the 2,000 runners who took part last year. Race organiser Frank Bombosch noted the momentum and ambition of the organising team: “We already have over 3,000 people participating in running events across Namibia, and we’re expecting 5,000 this year. That’s very ambitious, so we need the media, sponsors, schools and the community to help us activate and reach that number.”
Focus on youth and schools
A key feature of the 2025 event is the Schools Challenge, aimed at encouraging participation among Namibian youth. The three schools with the highest number of finishers will win N$10,000, N$7,500, and N$5,000 respectively.
Additionally, three more schools will be selected via lucky draw, each receiving N$4,000 , provided they enter a minimum of 20 athletes.
“We feel the future lies with the youth, and we want them out there,” said Bombosch. “We’ve also reached out to companies to support schools facing travel or entry fee challenges. Whether it’s buying an entry for a runner or supporting a school, that’s part of our mission.”
Elite race and entries
The elite 10 km race is expected to attract Namibia’s top 500 runners. Qualifying times have been set at 55 minutes for men and 60 minutes for women. Athletes such as Daniel Paulus, Martha Shivolo, Rainhold Thomas, and Simon Matias are among the top names expected to compete.
Registration is now open via EasyReg, with entry fees set at N$350 for elite runners and N$250 for fun run participants. Group entries for schools, clubs, and companies are also available. Registration closes on 24 August 2025.
More than just a race
Nedbank Namibia has emphasised that the Citi Dash goes beyond running, it’s about building community, encouraging wellness, and creating shared moments.
“At Nedbank Namibia, we believe in creating opportunities for everyone to move forward, whether that’s on the road, on a trail, or in life,” said van Graan. “The Citi Dash reflects our commitment to doing good, not just in financial services, but in the lives of the people we serve.” With the rallying cry “Run. Move. Connect.”, the 2025 Nedbank Citi Dash stands poised to once again bring Windhoek’s streets to life in an unforgettable celebration of fitness and community spirit.
