The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport), Nedbank Namibia, and the Powerhouse Cycling Club are excited to announce the Walvis Bay Namport Nedbank Powerhouse Challenge 2025, taking place on 1–2 November 2025 at Namibia’s premier port city, Walvis Bay.

Following the success of the inaugural event held during the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival in March 2025, this much-anticipated second edition promises to be bigger, faster, and more exhilarating, drawing Namibia’s top cyclists, runners, and fitness enthusiasts for a weekend of healthy competition and community spirit.

The two-day sporting challenge will feature a diverse line-up of races designed for both professional and recreational athletes, including:

Running events: 21km Half Marathon, 10km and 5km fun runs

Cycling events: 70km and 30km Mountain Bike (MTB) races, as well as 100km and 50km Road Races

The cycling competitions will once again be sanctioned by the Namibian Cycling Federation, ensuring high standards and participation from elite cyclists across Namibia and beyond.

According to Namport’s Manager for Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement, Cliff Shikuambi, “The Walvis Bay edition of the Namport Nedbank Powerhouse Challenge 2025 is a strategic brand-building platform that reinforces Namport’s identity as a people-centred, progressive, and community-invested national brand. Beyond its operational role as Namibia’s maritime gateway, Namport’s active involvement in this multisport event reflects its broader commitment to nation-building, wellness, and stakeholder engagement.” Shikuambi added, “By aligning with reputable partners such as Nedbank Namibia and the Powerhouse Cycling Club, Namport strengthens its image as a collaborative leader and enabler of social development. The Challenge promotes values synonymous with Namport’s brand, resilience, endurance, teamwork, and excellence, while positioning the organisation as a catalyst for regional integration and local economic stimulation through sports tourism.

Hosting the event in Walvis Bay, Namport’s home port, also provides a unique opportunity to showcase the city’s world-class infrastructure, logistical capabilities, and community vibrancy, reinforcing Namport’s reputation as a trusted custodian of national assets and a champion of sustainable community upliftment. Ultimately, the Challenge enhances Namport’s brand equity by deepening emotional connections with stakeholders, strengthening visibility among diverse audiences, and demonstrating corporate leadership beyond the port environment through initiatives that inspire health, unity, and national pride.”

Representing the Powerhouse Cycling Club, João da Costa expressed his appreciation to all event partners for their unwavering support, saying, “This partnership enables the Powerhouse Cycling Club to further its mission of growing the sport of cycling within Namibia, encouraging participation at all levels, and creating more opportunities for youth and community engagement through sport.”

Nedbank Namibia’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Gernot de Klerk, reiterated the bank’s longstanding commitment to community empowerment, saying, “As money experts who do good, Nedbank Namibia has deep roots in Namibia’s southern regions, including establishing our second-ever branch in Keetmanshoop. Our partnership with Namport and the Powerhouse Cycling Club underscores our dedication to investing in people and their communities, supporting initiatives that promote health, unity, and sustainable growth.

We have hosted cycling and running races in Walvis Bay before, and as a precursor to the Nedbank Desert Dash in December, we look forward to this exciting event.”

Building on the momentum from the Lüderitz debut, the Walvis Bay edition aims to attract hundreds of participants and spectators. The scenic coastal terrain, combined with Namport’s logistical excellence, Nedbank’s commitment to sport, and the vibrancy of Walvis Bay, will create an unforgettable atmosphere of endurance, teamwork, and celebration.

The event also serves as a platform to strengthen local tourism and promote Walvis Bay as a hub for sport, wellness, and regional collaboration. With the support of its founding partners, Namport, Nedbank Namibia, and the Powerhouse Cycling Club, the Challenge continues to grow into one of Namibia’s signature multisport events.

Enthusiasts are encouraged to register early and be part of this unique experience celebrating fitness, resilience, and community pride.
