Reflecting on the success of the event, Adél Oosthuizen, President of Ring Contact Fighting Arts Namibia, said:

“We are thrilled with the results of Namib War III! Namibia once again walked away with the overall victory, and we are incredibly proud of the superb talent amongst our fighters. These athletes have the opportunity to become truly world-class. RCFA is still a young sport in Namibia, and the growth we are experiencing amongst our upcoming athletes is absolutely amazing and a testament to their dedication and the commitment of our instructors.

Outstanding individual performances

Among individual athletes, Aldo du Plessis (RCFAI Windhoek) was a standout, claiming four gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, while Johan Rust, Hermanus Bergh, and Zandrino Gariseb also delivered stellar performances for Windhoek. Karien du Plessis, with seven gold medals, dominated the women’s categories.

Event Highlights

Competitions spanned numerous categories, from high and low kicks to sport boxing, close combat, and weapon-based fighting such as Baton, Bo, and Nunchaku, as well as African Stick Fighting. The event also featured Series (Katas) for both traditional and weapon forms, emphasising technical skill and discipline.

This championship also served as a national selection platform for Namibia’s team heading to the Southern Africa Ring Contact Jungle War Tournament in South Africa in October, and ultimately, the World Championships in April 2026.

With over 126 fighters participating and multiple tatami mats and rings in action throughout the day, the RCFA Namib War III once again reinforced its status as a premier martial arts event in the region.
