Namhindo pots Presidents Cup crown

Mathew “Stunner” Namhindo has been crowned the Namibia Cue Sports Federation Presidents Cup champion after topping a 40-player field at the MTC Dome’s Pitstop Sports Lounge in Swakopmund.Namhindo claimed the annual blackball title and N$4 250 in prize money, while Jamal Andrewa finished second to earn N$2 150.Kenedy Enkali took third place and N$1 250, with Pieter Dreyer completing the top four to pocket N$850.The field was selected from 21 teams based on players’ positions in the Namibia Blackball League standings. The league is contested annually from March to October.Six women were among the 40 players who competed in the main championship.Junior champions crownedThe accompanying junior championship attracted 10 players across the under-19 and under-16 categories, with the younger competitors also testing themselves in the under-19 field.Armando Louw won the under-19 title and N$700, ahead of Johannes Shipundi, who received N$500. Bernardus Grobler finished third to earn N$300.Zaiden Thys claimed the under-16 crown and N$700, while Denivo Olivier took second place and N$500. Ruzaan Möller, the only female player in the junior competition, secured third place and N$300.The Namibia Cue Sports Federation organised the championships and covered all prize money from its own resources.Federation president Cyrill Jannie Möller said the governing body remains self-funded.“The federation covers all prizes without sponsors. Our federation generates its own income. This year, government postponed our request for financial assistance,” said Möller.More titles to comeThe federation will next host the Women’s Championship in Windhoek on 31 July, followed by the Masters Championship in the capital on 28 August.The Namibia Champ of Champs will conclude the federation’s major championship programme in Windhoek from 27 to 28 November.The next Presidents Cup is scheduled for Windhoek in 2027.– mariud@nsh.com.na
