Kavango East Anselm Marungu Cup looms
Football lovers in the Ndonga Linena Constituency are gearing up for the inaugural Anselm Marungu Cup, a new tournament set to take place in the Kavango East Region in the coming weeks.
The competition has been proposed by an organising committee in honour of the newly elected constituency councillor, Anselm Marungu, with the aim of promoting football and youth development in the area.
A planning meeting is scheduled for this Saturday in the Ndonga Linena Constituency, where stakeholders are expected to map the way forward regarding the tournament.
One of the organisers, Haingura Poulus Ngula, said the event is expected to mark the beginning of an important and productive football competition for the community.
He expressed confidence that the tournament will provide a platform for aspiring young players to showcase their talent.
“We all know that this part of the country enjoys sport just as much as any other region,” said Ngula.
“It is for this reason that we would like to host this tournament in the name of Honourable Councillor Marungu. I can assure you that it will be of great importance to the community and to sport in general,” he told Sport Wrap yesterday.
Ngula said Saturday’s meeting will focus on the tournament’s objectives and expectations, while dates and venues will also be discussed.
Rules and regulations governing the competition will further form part of the agenda.
“I encourage people in the constituency to look forward to a tournament that will create opportunities for many in our region,” said Ngula.
He also urged community members to take sport seriously as a tool for development and unity.
