Juniors compete for their country

The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) has started the new year with a bang, hosting the ITF and Confederation of African Tennis’ Southern African junior individual and team championships in Windhoek this week.

A total of 140 players from all of Southern Africa will compete in the two age tournaments (under 14 and u16) that started last Saturday and will continue until Sunday 14 January.

Boys and girls from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Mauritius, Madagascar, Lesotho, Eswatini and Namibia will strive for national honours and individual ranking points.

The following talented Namibian U14 and U16 players have been selected:

Boys: Johan Theron, Luan Brand, Bergh de Witt, Tadiwa Mombeyaraya, Nathan Fundisi, Jaden van der Westhuizen, Ruben Yssel, Eduan Schollij, Lian Kuhn, Lemuel Kahindi, Dante Marcus, Henlou du Toit

Girls: Joanivia Bezuidenhout, Natalia-Tia Ouses, Emma Brinkmann, Elrica Nakusera, Secilia Nghitewapo, Wawangwa Mbakile, Alexandra de Witt, Mari van Schalkwyk, Nana Campbell Hilya, Kayla Amutse, Ndeumono Wilhelm.

Elias Shilongo (boys) and Linique Theron (girls) are the appointed coaches for Team Namibia.
