Grootfontein, Kudus strengthen their positions
Suburbs in high spirits
The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) premier league continued with emphatic encounters as Kudus trounced Unam, while Western Suburbs were successful in Windhoek.
FNB Western Suburbs 1 on Saturday afternoon dotted down eight tries versus Trustco United 1 in their Premier League encounter at United in Olympia to win their fifth clash of the 2022 season by 53 points to nine.
United’s points came by the boot of flyhalf Renier Benade with two penalty goals and a magnificent drop kick in the first half to trail at halftime by 36-9.
Left winger and captain of Suburbs, Gino Wilson, scored within the first minute from the kick off, with a solo try to put the host on the back foot. United could not cope with the onslaught from the visitors and Suburbs’ right winger Dumarcho Hartung scored his team's second five pointer a few minutes later.
The one-way traffic had Suburbs in high spirits while the young United side, led by flanker and captain Elof du Plessis, tried their best to stem the tide.
United came close to scoring a couple of tries in the second half, but the lack of support, experience and the feisty defence of Suburbs, denied them any success.
