FNB leads charge in Brave Warriors World Cup campaign

The Brave Warriors’ quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup received an emphatic show of national backing yesterday with the official launch of the Brave Warriors World Cup campaign, hosted by First National Bank (FNB) Namibia in the capital.The nationwide initiative seeks to unify Namibians in support of the senior national football team, which is edging closer to securing a historic first-ever World Cup qualification.The campaign’s first major event will be a fundraising gala dinner, aiming to bring together corporate leaders, stakeholders and passionate supporters to mobilise essential financial resources for the Brave Warriors’ journey.As the leading partner of the campaign, FNB Namibia proudly pledged N$500 000, reaffirming its strong commitment to the development of local football and national pride.“Namibia stands on the brink of football history,” FNB Namibia's retail chief executive officer, Nangula Kauluma. “Brave Warriors are closer than ever to qualifying for the FIFA World Cup. And we believe that with the right support, comprising strategic, financial, moral and sound governance, they can go all the way.“To the Brave Warriors, your journey has inspired us. Your dedication, discipline and unity have earned the respect of a nation. We don’t just support you, we stand with you," Kauluma added.FNB Namibia’s pledge is part of its broader investment in sports development. Over the past three years, the bank has committed more than N$26 million to sport, including N$7.5 million specifically toward football development. Their strategy focuses on both elite performance and grassroots growth.“At FNB Namibia, we believe in this team,” she said. “We’ve seen their leadership, their grit and their pride in wearing the Namibian jersey. Our role today is to help mobilise the collective support it will take to get them to the world stage.”Brave Warriors campaign committee chairperson Tim Ekandjo urged all Namibians to get involved:“This is a moment for the entire country to come together behind something that unites us all. The Brave Warriors represent our hopes, our resilience and our pride. Now is the time to show up for them.”The event also celebrated the progress and efforts of the team and their technical staff.Head coach Collin Benjamin and his technical team were in attendance and expressed their appreciation for the growing support:“We are extremely impressed with the campaign so far. It has a positive effect on us and the players. The more the players can see the nation’s support, the more they will be inspired. We would like to thank FNB Namibia for leading the way. We hope more companies will stand up and support this national campaign.”The Brave Warriors World Cup campaign now invites corporates and communities to join the unifying national effort and back Namibia’s historic journey to the global stage.
