Eros lead honours at NTA schools nationals

Eros Primary School claimed three titles at the Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) School League Nationals held at the Central Tennis Courts in Windhoek on Saturday.

School teams from Windhoek were joined by players from Outjo and Tsumeb for the national competition, which featured boys’ and girls’ contests across the Red, Orange and Green categories.

Eros topped the Red girls, Orange girls and Orange boys divisions, while Dar-E-Zahra Private School took both Green titles and Pioneerspark Primary School won the Red boys section.

The nationals followed player development clinics and training sessions held during the previous week, which organisers said were aimed at sharpening the players’ technique, tactical awareness and match preparation.

Red division

Eros took the Red girls title ahead of Dar-E-Zahra in second place, with Suiderhof Primary School completing the podium in third.

In the boys’ section, Pioneerspark came out on top, followed by Eros in second place and Heritage Private School in third.

Orange division

Eros completed a sweep of the Orange titles.

Their girls finished ahead of Dar-E-Zahra and Suiderhof, while the Eros boys took first place ahead of Heritage and Dar-E-Zahra.

Green division

Dar-E-Zahra controlled the Green categories, taking both the girls’ and boys’ titles.

The Dar girls finished ahead of Outjo in second place and Emma Hoogenhout Primary School in third.

In the boys’ division, Dar-E-Zahra claimed the title ahead of Tsumeb, with Pioneerspark completing the podium.

Exposure

Organisers said the School League Nationals form part of efforts to give young players regular competitive exposure and create a pathway for their development through school tennis.
