Week three of the Central Volleyball Association (CVA) League saw Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) climb to the top of the women’s standings after matches concluded at Ramatex Hall in Otjomuside.

DTS, who had lost their league-leading status in the first week to Afrocat Ladies, played catch-up in their only match of the round against the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust), winning in straight sets (3-0). They now sit first on 30 points.

Afrocat Ladies did not feature in this round, which saw them slip to second with 28 points, though they have a game in hand.

City Warriors had the busiest schedule, contesting three matches but managing only a single 3-1 win over University of Namibia (Unam) Queens B in their final outing of the day.

They first went up against City of Windhoek, where they managed to take two sets but eventually lost 3-2. Their second match was another tough defeat, this time 3-1 to Revivals.

Despite two losses from three, the Warriors remain third on the log with 18 points.

City of Windhoek then faced Unam Queens B and secured a comfortable 3-0 win.

Men’s results

The men’s division produced the biggest surprise of the season when unbeaten log leaders NamPower were pushed all the way by Kudos, who took two sets off them before losing 3-2. It was the first time this season NamPower had to settle for shared points.

NamPower’s first outing saw them sweep Nust Blazers 3-0, while their clash with Afrocat D was rescheduled. They now lead on 44 points.

Close behind are Namibia Defence Force (NDF) Hurricanes, who won their only match of the round 3-0 against City of Windhoek to remain second with 39 points.

Kudos later endured a tense 3-2 defeat to City of Windhoek, while Training Establishment overcame Nust Falcons 3-2 before falling 3-0 to Unam Kings.

In other matches, Nust Blazers beat Unam Kings D 3-0. Kings D’s fixture with Afrocat E was shifted to a later date.
