Cohen FC reigns supreme

FISTBALL
Jesse Kauraisa
Cohen Fistball Club used their home-ground advantage to win the second Fistball tournament, which took place on their turf this past weekend.

The first team dominated the event, while SKW 3 secured victory in the B category with incredible action.

In the U/18 category, SKW A emerged as winners of the youth division, which was filled with future stars.

SKW A were also crowned champions of the under-13 category, much to the delight of their fans and management who attended the event.

Top teams Cohen FC, SKW, and Swakopmund FC all fielded two teams in the competition, which saw old rivals clash once more.

The matches were played in a round-robin format with only two sets per match, with each set won worth one point.

CFC 1 completed the preliminary round undefeated, despite dropping a set to SFC 2.

SFC 1 placed second, earning six points, but it was not enough to claim the title.

SKW 1 failed to win a single set and had to settle for sixth place — a disappointing outcome for the team from Windhoek.

Mia Henckert of SKW was named Youth Player of the Day, while Benjamin Lange of SFC 2 received the Adult Player of the Day trophy.

The 2-a-side tournament will take place at SKW on 21st June.

"National coach Nick Trinermeier, who flew in from Germany, led a training camp on Sunday. He will be in Swakopmund until Tuesday, before conducting a final training session in Windhoek on Wednesday with the Windhoek-based players," said Fistball spokesperson Helmo Minz.
