CFC, SKW 3 triumph at third fistball tournament
Fistball
The third fistball tournament of this year's season took place at the SKW grounds last weekend. CFC 1 clinched victory in the A Category, while SKW 3 celebrated success in the B Category.
The junior fistball action kicked off on Friday. SKW A emerged victorious in the U/13 category, followed by clubmates SKW B and CFC A in second and third place, respectively.
In the U/18 division, SFC A dominated, winning all three of their matches. SKW A and SKW B followed closely, while CFC A had to settle for fourth place.
The A Category tournament developed into a tightly contested affair. After the round-robin stage, three teams — CFC 1, CFC 2 and SKW 2 — each recorded two wins and two draws, earning six points apiece. CFC 1, however, had a superior points difference of three and thus qualified directly for the final. SKW 2 and CFC 2 faced off in the semi-final, where the blue and whites won an exciting match 2-0 to progress. In the all-CFC final, CFC 1 edged their clubmates 2-1.
SFC 1 began the tournament with two defeats but improved significantly to win the third-place play-off against SKW 2. As in the second tournament, record-holders SKW 1 failed to earn any points and had to settle for fifth place.
In the B Category, SKW 3 emerged as group winners, followed by SKW 4, who also secured a place in the final. CFC 3 defeated SFC 3 with a convincing 3-0 win in the third-place match. The final between SKW 3 and SKW 4 proved thrilling, with SKW 3 once again edging their clubmates 3-2 — replicating their result from the previous tournament.
Oliver Rohlf was named Youth Player of the Day, while Robert Sinclair received the adult trophy — both representing SKW.
On Saturday evening, the expanded men’s U/18 squad was presented and the team held their first training session on Sunday at SKW. Preparations are now underway for the 2026 Youth World Championship, set to take place in Switzerland in July. The men’s senior squad also trained on Sunday.
The fourth tournament of the season will take place on 9 August in Swakopmund.
