Brave Warriors seek another win in Comoros

The Brave Warriors will look to make it two wins from two when they face Comoros in Moroni at 14:00 today in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers.

Namibia made the perfect start to their Group G campaign on Thursday, beating Congo 1–0 in Gaborone, Botswana. New Sekhukhune United signing Bethuel Muzeu scored the decisive goal shortly after half-time, heading home Riaan Hanamub’s looping cross from the right.

The victory gave Collin Benjamin’s side three valuable points and a clean sheet, but the coach and his technical team now face another challenge in managing the players after a demanding journey to the Comoros.

Brave Warriors sports scientist Garren Smith said the squad spent almost 30 hours travelling to Moroni, forcing the team to make recovery the priority upon arrival.

“Yesterday we arrived quite late, basically almost 30 hours of travel. Unfortunately, we couldn't do anything yesterday just to help with recovery, so we prioritised the sleeping,” Smith said.

The players were given the opportunity to get seven to eight hours of sleep before returning to training, with the first session focused on mobility and gradually getting the squad ready for today's match.

Smith said the workload was also adjusted for players who did not feature against Congo.

“Those that didn't play, we made sure also just to increase their load so that they're on par with the guys that did play,” he said.

Comoros, meanwhile, will be desperate to collect their first points after losing 3–1 to Cameroon in their opening Group G fixture.

The hosts will also take confidence from recent meetings between the two sides. Comoros defeated Namibia 1–0 and 4–0 in friendly matches in November 2025, while their most recent encounter in March ended 0–0 before Namibia won the penalty shoot-out 5–4.

Namibia will therefore know that today's match is unlikely to be straightforward despite their winning start.

For Benjamin, the challenge will be to maintain the momentum from the Congo victory while ensuring his players are physically prepared following the long trip and short recovery period.

The Brave Warriors are targeting another positive result that could strengthen their position at the top of Group G.

With the top two teams in the group set to qualify for the 2027 AFCON finals, every point will carry significant weight.

The Brave Warriors will now take to the field in Moroni knowing that another victory would provide a strong early foundation in their qualification campaign.
