FNB Women’s Super League champions Beauties FC are gearing up for their maiden appearance at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers, which take place from 22 to 31 August in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Namibian champions have been placed in Group A alongside two-time COSAFA winners Mamelodi Sundowns, Ntopwa FC of Malawi, and Zambia’s Zesco Ndola Girls. Their opening fixture will see them face Zesco on Friday at 12h00 CAT at the University of Johannesburg’s AW Muller Stadium.
Ahead of the tournament, Beauties FC owner and coach Salome Iiyambo acknowledged the tough challenge but expressed confidence in her team’s readiness.
“We are aware that it is a challenging group, but we are well-prepared for what lies ahead. We are finalising our preparations and plan to play some friendly matches in South Africa before the tournament begins,” she said.
Iiyambo, who took charge of the club in 2015 after returning from studies in Europe, highlighted that Beauties’ signature blend of experience and youth would be a key asset.
“Our squad combines seasoned players with younger talent. This club has a long tradition of producing national team players.
At the forefront of the team will be captain and goalkeeper Melissa Matheus, making her second appearance at the qualifiers after previously representing Ongos Ladies FC. Her leadership and experience are expected to play a pivotal role as Beauties aim for success on the continental stage.
Admission to all matches will be free, with tickets available for collection at the AW Muller Stadium entrance on Symons Road between 07h00 and 17h00 daily. Fans unable to attend can follow the action live on FIFA+ and COSAFA’s YouTube channel.
The group stage will run until 27 August, with the semi-finals on 29 August and the grand finale on 31 August, where the winners will secure a place at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
Beauties will be carrying Namibia’s hopes as they aim to translate their unbeaten domestic run into a strong continental campaign.
