The Beach Netball Tournament held on Saturday in Windhoek is said to have yielded desired results.
The tournament drew the attention of 12 competitive in attempt to claim bragging rights.
The title went to Wise Girls from Unam Ogongo who were in top form.
In second place were Esylife Babes (Afrocat), while Dream Team (Afrocat) secured third place.
One of the organisers, Dimitri Bittler, said he is proud to have been part of the initiative and expressed his appreciation towards the teams that showed up.
“The event proved to be a resounding success, drawing 12 competitive teams and an enthusiastic crowd throughout the day.
“Thanks to the generous sponsorship from RA Investment and Dynapharm, the prize pool was significantly boosted,” said Bittler.
The competition winners took home N$4 000 and gold medals, while the second placed team got N$2 000 and silver medals.
The third-placed team were only compensated with bronze medals for their efforts.
“The overwhelming success of this event has inspired organisers to expand the beach netball series to Swakopmund next year, with plans to make it even bigger and better as a premier off-season sporting attraction,” Bittler said.
Beach netball is said to be fast becoming a new sporting phenomenon, bringing together athleticism, fun and community spirit in a refreshing and vibrant setting.
