The Central Volleyball Association (CVA) League’s recently concluded second round opening fixtures saw Afrocat Ladies (Afrocat L) and Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Hurricanes dominate their matches in the women’s and men’s sections, respectively.

Held at the University of Namibia (Unam) Main Campus, the tournament saw Afrocat L defeat Afrocat Titans 3-0 in their only match of the day, which saw them usurp Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) to become log leaders on 22 points.

Reflecting on the crucial win, Afrocat L captain Anna Kadhila admitted it was quite an easy game against their fellow Afrocat side.

DTS now sits second on the log standings with 21 points, after their encounter with City Warriors saw them come off second best, sharing points after a 3-2 result.

The third women’s match of the day saw Unam Queens B secure a narrow 3-2 victory over the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust).

The scheduled ladies’ matches between Unam Queens B and Revivals, as well as Revivals against City of Windhoek, were postponed.

Men’s results

The men’s section also featured outstanding performances and upsets. NDF Hurricanes’ two-match victories saw them equal points (30) with log leaders NamPower, who still have two games in hand.

Hurricanes pulled off upsets against Kudos, whom they beat 3-1 and repeated the same result when they encountered Afrocat E.

Hurricanes captain Imms Lepold described the feat his team achieved as an “incredible feeling,” saying they worked tirelessly during the break to achieve it.

“Being a tie-break behind the log leaders keeps us focused and driven. We are taking it as a positive momentum boost. We’re staying grounded, keeping our eyes on the prize and working hard to maintain and build on this momentum in our upcoming fixtures,” he said.

Other men’s results

Other results saw Nust Blazers beat Falcons 3-1, City of Windhoek suffer 3-1 to Training Establishment and Unam Kings share points with Afrocat E after beating them 3-2.

Afrocat D secured a 3-0 victory over Unam Kings D, who went on to suffer a narrow 3-2 loss to Nust Falcons. Kudos put 3-0 past Training Establishment, while Unam Kings beat Nust Blazers 3-2.
