Namibia’s emerging triathlon talent will take centre stage this Sunday, 18 October, when the 2026 RMB Off-Road Triathlon takes place at Lake Oanob Resort.

Proudly hosted by OTB Sport for more than 15 years and sponsored by RMB for the past seven years, the event brings together promising young athletes and experienced competitors for a day of off-road racing.

Athletes will compete across three distances: the Enduro, featuring a 1.1 km swim, 28 km cycle and 8 km run; the Sprint, comprising a 600 m swim, 14 km cycle and 4 km run; and the Super Sprint, with a 300 m swim, 4 km cycle and 2 km run.

African champions lead the contenders

This year’s event promises an exciting showcase of local talent, with several young Namibian athletes arriving with impressive international results.

Leading the Enduro field is 18-year-old Nathan Chase, a multiple-time RMB Off-Road Triathlon champion who is expected to challenge for victory. Having first competed in the event at the age of seven, Chase has enjoyed an impressive season on the international circuit.

He won gold at the Junior African Championships in Egypt in February, followed by strong performances at the African Cup events in March and April. In August, he also secured his first top-10 finish at a European Junior event.

“It’s been a great season for me, but very road-focused. I cannot wait to go off-road again this weekend at the RMB Triathlon,” said Chase.

Other leading contenders include Micah Chase and Emma Brinkmann, who both won gold medals at the African Championships in Egypt this month in the Youth 14–15 age category.

Internationally active athletes Kyra Marschall, Fynn Middleton and James Langford will also be among those competing on Sunday.

Fourteen-year-old Lillian Kibble, a multiple winner of the women’s Sprint distance, is another athlete to watch as she prepares to make the step towards international triathlon competition.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Tristen Büttner will aim to defend his title in the men’s Super Sprint after winning the event in 2025.

Developing Namibia’s triathlon talent

The RMB Off-Road Triathlon continues to provide a valuable platform for athletes of different ages and abilities to test themselves, gain experience and develop their skills in a competitive environment.

OTB Sport has expressed its appreciation to RMB for its continued sponsorship and contribution to the development of triathlon in Namibia.

The organisers also acknowledged the support of Lake Oanob Resort, E.M.A Medical and the volunteers whose efforts help make the event possible.
