WHS reigns in netball tournament

Following a narrow win at the annual Interhigh, the Windhoek High School (WHS) under-19 netball team brought their netball season to a jovial close with a win at the Capricorn Group Schools Netball League.

It was a tough final between the under-19 WHS and Windhoek Afrikaans Private School (WAP), with both teams fighting hard and fast for the title. But WHS had taken the lead early on in the match. At the close of the match, WHS had managed to take the victory with 33 goals to WAP's 25.

WAP's u/17 team, however, started their school off on a winning streak during the first match of the day with a 39-20 victory over the Stampriet native Roots Gymnasium team.

Top of the board

After the renowned Windhoek Gymnasium Black Diamonds scored a stellar win last year, the Gymnasium teams of all ages took to the court once again this year.

Their u/13 and u/14 teams took home victories against Edugate Academy and Okahandja Secondary School, respectively. After taking the initial lead during the first two quarters of the u/13 match, Windhoek Gymnasium managed to sway the scoreboard in their favour, walking away with a 12-10 victory.

The Okahandja Secondary School u/14 girls opted to forfeit after the first two quarters as their peers at Windhoek Gymnasium held a 34-2 lead.

Respectable performances

Okahandja Secondary School had, however, managed a draw against northern private school Moria in the u/19 division, bringing the match to an end at 13 each.

Following their loss against Windhoek Gymnasium, Edugate's u/17 team managed a 29-19 victory against Centaurus Secondary School. Having started the match off with a near-constant one-upping, Edugate took to the court with their sights set on victory during the second quarter.

Walvis Bay Private School has long been a respectable opponent and once again claimed victory over Rehoboth's Dr. Lemmer High School at 24-10.
