According to Lucas, four schools from Walvis Bay and two from Swakopmund confirmed their participation at the festival. "Entry is free for all schools, with refreshments that will be provided to all participants. Equipment (balls, bibs) and prices for the day (T-shirts, balls) will be provided by FIFA,” said Lucas.
The event consists of a half-day small-sided football tournament with life skills activities and fun activities for the players and supporters next to the field. The event will be concluded with an awards ceremony. The Galz & Goals programme combines football with life skills, HIV/aids, and health education to create a platform through which adolescent girls can gain skills and knowledge through active participation and learn to make healthy choices.
Jochen Traut of the NFA said they are looking forward to the enthusiastic participation in the event. “Funding will be provided for this event, which contributes to the growth and empowerment of girls in football. Ambassadors will be responsible for promoting positive values, encouraging young players, and advocating for positive social change.”
