NamRA to host tax counterparts

The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) will host the 39th regional steering group meeting, scheduled to take place in Swakopmund from 20 to 22 May. The gathering will discus the status of decisions made during the 29th governing council meeting in Madagascar in May last year, focusing on the implementation of the regional strategy (2022-2025). Members will have the opportunity to exchange strategies and experiences at both national and regional level, aiming to innovate and enhance customs’ role with modern practices. Key discussions during the meeting will include updates from various regional entities and the World Customs Organisation (WCO), alongside addressing other pertinent issues affecting the region. Following the regional steering group meeting, the 30th governing council is set to convene on 23 and 24 May. This event will be graced by the presence of WCO secretary-general Ian Saunders and other esteemed dignitaries. The WCO East and Southern Africa Region comprises 24 member countries: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, eSwatini, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
