Miga 4:3: "Hulle sal van hulle swaarde ploegskare smee en van hulle spiese snoeiskêre."

Oorloë, vyandigheid, sanksies, nasies wat teen nasies opstaan en magsblokke vorm om dinge op ons manier gedoen te kry. Dis maar net ’n paar voorbeelde van wat voortdurend in ons wêreld aan die gang is. Magtige lande kan skynbaar doen wat hulle wil, terwyl ander die gevolge van hierdie magspeletjies dra.

Ek wonder of iemand nog die woorde van Dwight Eisenhower glo: "Elke geweer wat gemaak word, elke oorlogskip wat gelanseer word, elke vuurpyl wat afgevuur word, is uiteindelik diefstal van hulle wat honger is en nie gevoed word nie, wat koudkry en nie geklee word nie."

Miga droom van ’n tyd wanneer oorlogswapens landbou-instrumente sal word. Stryd en twis sal stop. Wapens wat gebruik is om mense se lewens te vernietig, sal instrumente word om op te bou, te herstel en ’n vreedsame lewe te skep.

Oorloë en vyandelikhede is van ons gebroke wêreld, maar Jesus roep ons om vredemakers te wees. Kinders van die Here droom saam met die Here oor die tyd wanneer die behoeftes van die wêreld meer sal tel as ons eie drang om te heers.

Daarom moet ons alle vorme van vyandigheid weerstaan en alle aksies ondersteun wat daarop gemik is om vrede te bring.

Anne Frank het gesê niemand hoef vir ’n enkele oomblik te wag voordat ons die wêreld kan begin verbeter nie.
