Witvlei praised for first ever business expo
WITVLEI. ? The Witvlei Village Council on Thursday received praise for its first business expo which is taking place at the Joel Kaapanda Business Park.
The chairperson of the village council, Livey van Wyk, said organising the expo was not an easy task. ?It was a challenge for us as we did not know where to start. But it is good news to finally witness the official opening of our own business expo right here at Witvlei,? she said.
The three-day expo was officially opened by Omaheke regional governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua on Thursday. She praised the Witvlei village councillors as well as community members who are participating as exhibitors to make the event a success.
?Let me from the onset congratulate the leadership of Witvlei and the entire community on this noble, well-meant and well-timed business initiative,? she said.
McLeod-Katjirua pointed out that Witvlei is situated along the Trans-Kalahari Highway and said its strategic location creates many great economic opportunities.
She was joined by Steinhausen Constituency Councillor Kilus Nguvauva, who also praised the village council. He said it is always exciting and motivating to see initiatives geared towards economic growth and sustainable development in the country taking place.
?Every year you hear people talking about expos organised by different town councils, but I am sure you have never heard of a village council organising an expo. Therefore, we must applaud the Witvlei community for organising this historic business event,? said Nguvauva.
A number of individuals were also quick to praise the Witvlei Village Council committee heading the expo?s business activities.
Amongst them was the special advisor to the Omaheke Regional Governor, Pio Nganate, who donated an amount of N$1 000 to motivate the committee to keep up the good work. Different exhibitors from Gobabis and Witvlei were showcasing their hand-made products at the expo, which ended on Saturday.
