Windhoek Teachers Resource Centre receives Namcol books

ibian College of Open Learning (Namcol), under its corporate social responsibility committee, donated 33 grade 10 to 11 new revised curriculum books to the Windhoek Teachers Resource Centre (WTRC) in Katutura on 7 October.This after WTRC manager, Errikson Shilemba, requested a donation.“The textbooks will be a great benefit to and immense contribution towards the teachers, learners and the community members at large,” he wrote. He added that many textbooks in the library are outdated, which led to a relatively small number of library users coming to study or borrow books from the library.“It is thus imperative that the updated teaching and learning resources are available to attract as many library users as possible,” he said. Continuous cooperationSpeaking at the official handover ceremony, the Namcol Corporate Social Responsibility Committee chairperson, Jack Eixab, said he appreciated the warm reception from the staff members of the WTRC and was delighted to donate the books.“On behalf of the Namcol Corporate Responsibility Committee in particular and Namcol in general, I hereby humbly donate these books and hope that they will help in addressing your challenges,” he said. Eixab further guaranteed continuous support and cooperation between Namcol and WTRC. Final exams approachingMeanwhile, Shilemba, who received the donations, was excited and assured that the books will be effectively used. “We are very thankful to Namcol and very excited that you promptly responded to our sincere request. Thank you once more,” he said. “With the final examination fast approaching, the books will indeed serve a great purpose,” he said.WTRC provides access to teaching and learning materials for teachers, learners and community members. The Namcol Corporate Social Responsibility Committee is mandated to coordinate the corporate social responsibility activities of the college.
