Windhoek Country Club and Casino gets make-over
THE Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino is currently undergoing a complete facelift and the hotel promises to sparkle in a completely new light once the renovations are completed by 31 July 2008.
While the casino already received new carpets and some new machines towards the end of last year, the hotel is currently being done one room after the other to still allow for occupancy and minimal disturbance to the guests.
According to Tony Boucher, General Manager of the hotel, all 152 rooms, including the suites, are being given a total makeover and the entire hotel will be painted. The restaurant will follow in due course.
This refurbishment naturally comes at a cost, but the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino views this as an investment in the future and the new look and feel will not affect the pockets of hotel guests. The rates remain the same and are only subject to the usual annual increase which became effective on 1 January 2008.
"The time has come to heed our guest’s feedback and input and what they have seen and experienced over the years. "The rooms have become outdated and are in need of a refurbishment. When the project is finalised, the rooms will have a modern look in keeping with the wide open spaces and peaceful serenity that Namibia has become known for, while maintaining all the facilities an international traveller or businessman would expect from a 4 star deluxe hotel.
"The benefits to the guests are manifold, not only in terms of comfort, but also technological efficiency and appeal to international as well as business travellers," says Boucher.
When asked what will happen to the 'old' furnishings that are being discarded, Boucher said that some will be donated to deserving charities, while the loyal and hard working staff of the hotel will also get a chance to purchase some items at very affordable prices.
