Vink wins last monthly medley event

The eighth Windhoek Lager Monthly Medley competition was held at the Windhoek Golf & Country Club last Saturday.

The last monthly medley qualifying competition sponsored by Windhoek Lager was played in wintery spring time conditions with a cold unsavory wind blowing from the southeast.

The best six of eight rounds per player will now be considered for a place in the final which will be played on 29 and 30 October. The best 24 players will be divided into a Chairman’s and a Captain’s team who will play against each other.

Forty players participated in the competition.

The medal results are as follows:

1 George Vink (handicap 7) 76 gross, 39 points

1 Marco Vollgraaff (handicap 5) 77 gross, 35 points

2 Wessel Louw (handicap 8) 85 gross, 29 points

B Division (handicap 10-16)

3 Cor Beuke (handicap 14) 87 gross, 34 points

C Division (handicap under 17)

1 Fanie Oosthuizen (handicap 17) 92 gross, 32 points

2 Gustav Jung (handicap 19) 106 gross, 25 points

1 Hansina Hinda (handicap 22) 95 gross, 34 points

2 Evelyn Paulino (handicap 27) 113 gross, 23 points

Four lucky draw prizes were sponsored by Truck & Cab (Paul Adkins).

This coming weekend, 15 September, the ‘Sundowner’ will host a 27-hole betterball competition. The club is also preparing to host its annual general meeting on 19 September.
