Vier Namibiese mans is verlede Dinsdag by Nkurenkuru in verband met ivoorsmokkelary en die onwettige besit van 'n vuurwapen in hegtenis geneem.

Vier stukke ivoor, een pistool, ammunisie en een voertuig is by mnre. Moses Shikondjeni, Shindumbu Lungameni, Tobias Nghilaluwa en Jackson Haufiku gekonfiskeer.

Volgens die weeklikse wildmis­daadverslag van die Namibiese polisie se eenheid vir beskermde hulpbronne (PRU) en die ministerie van die ­omgewing en toerisme se intelli­gensie- en ondersoekeenheid, is ­altesaam 16 vermeende wildmis­dadigers tussen 16 en 22 Maart in ­hegtenis geneem.

Een van die verdagtes is in verband met renosterstropery, -horingsmokkelary of pogings daartoe in hegtenis geneem.

Ses nuwe wildmisdaadsake is aanhangig gemaak en beslag is op vier stukke ivoor, twee duikerkarkasse, een ietermagôvel en een impala-, een waterbok- en een vlakvarkkarkas gelê.

Vyf vuurwapens, sewe patrone en 'n voertuig is ook gekonfiskeer.
