Unaids kry nuwe verteenwoordiger

Die Verenigde Nasies (VN) se Gesamentlike MIV/vigs-program (Unaids) het 'n nuwe verteenwoordiger in Namibië.

Dr. Alti Zwandor is amptelik deur die minister van internasionale betrekkinge en samewerking en die adjunk- eerste minister, me. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, verwelkom.

Volgens Zwandor sal haar fokus tydens haar termyn bly op die opbou en handhawing van strategiese vennootskappe en om die MIV/vigs-pandemie in die land hok te slaan.

Zwandor is 'n openbare gesondheidskenner en het meer as 36 jaar se ondervinding in openbare gesondheid en ontwikkeling in Wes-, Oos- en Suider-Afrika.

As boorling van Nigerië het Zwandor haar ontwikkelingswerk in die vroeë 1980's by die ministerie van gesondheid in die land begin waar sy as dokter by regerings- en sendinghospitale diens gedoen het.

Sy het in 2002 by Unaids aangesluit en was onder meer die program se verteenwoordiger in Lesotho, ontwikkelingsraadgewer in Suid-Afrika en senior raadgewer vir programme in Ethiopië.

Zwandor het 'n meestersgraad in epidemiologie aan die Londense skool vir higiëne en tropiese medisyne en grade in medisyne en chirurgie aan die Universiteit van Jos in Nigerië verwerf.
