The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has announced the promotional playoffs dates for the three national first divisions with action taking place this weekend at Grootfontein, Gobabis and Tsumeb in search of six teams to be promoted to the national first divisions.

NFA head of competitions, Titus Kunamuene, confirmed that at Grootfontein, the North-East First Division will hold trials with six regional clubs (instead of the expected five) that will battle it out for two spots in the next season of the First Division.

Ohangwena NAMPOL from Ohangwena Region; KCR Western Stars from Kavango West and Young Stars from Oshikoto are in group B, while Oshikoto NAMPOL of Oshikoto; Kangweru Black Tops from Kavango East and Bush Bucks from Zambezi Region are in group A of the playoffs.

Each group winner will join the First Division.

Action will start at 12:00 tomorrow at the Omulunga Stadium as Ohangwena NAMPOL takes on Western Stars, to be followed by Black Tops versus Oshikoto NAMPOL.

Two more games will be played before Sunday that will both be starting at 09:00.

“Normally you would have five teams, but Young Rangers joins the playoffs too as they finished tenth in the First Division and we will then have 13 clubs for next season instead of 12 considering the two relegated clubs from the NPL, United Stars and Julinho Sporting,” Kunamuene explained.

GOBABIS

In the Omaheke Region, the Legare Stadium in Gobabis will be the place to be as Reho Madrid from Hardap, SKW (Sport Klub Windhoek) from Khomas and Kom Haal Hulle from Omaheke will be joined by Mountain Rangers from Karas Region and Erongo Region’s Northern Stars for some fierce competition for places in the next Southern Stream First Division season.

The first match at 08:00 will be between Mountain Rangers and Reho Madrid, to be followed by Kom Haal Hulle versus SKW at 10:00 as seven games take place on Saturday and three more on Sunday.

The North West First Division playoffs will take place at the prestigious Oscar Norich Stadium with only four clubs – Africa Motto from Oshana region, UNAM Ogongo from Omusati; Etosha United from Kunene and Otjozondjupa’ s Military School Okahandja FC – all vying for not two, but three places in the first division next season.

“Two teams were relegated and one won promotion to the Premier League (Life Fighters) – thus three spots are up for grabs,” Kunamuene explained.

Action will start at 10:00 as Africa Motto and Military School Okahandja go head to head, with UNAM Ogongo and Etosha United to clash at 12:00. At 16:00 it will be Motto vs UNAM and Military School against United. Two more games will be played on Sunday from 09:00.

Entrance to these games will be free. – NFA.org.na
