Telecom comes on board to fight the invisible enemy
The giant telecommunications service provider extended yet it’s helping hand to assist the MoEAC combating Covid-19 in schools.

The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (MOEAC) received a donation of 50 x 5Liter Sanitizers, 50 Sanitizing Stations and masks with the value of N$ 100 000.00.
The official handover of the donation took place on the 07 October 2020 at the resource center board room at the ministry’s headquarters with the continuous aim to support the government in fighting Covid-19 in schools.
The minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Ester Nghipondoka also attended the handover of the donation.
”Notwithstanding these measures towards fighting COVID-19 in our schools, the pandemic continues to put pressure on our scarce resources to keep our intuitions habitable and safe for our school staff members and learners, now that face-to-face has resumed in all our schools,” she says.
She further emphasises that the donation of the hand sanitizers, sanitizing stations and masks from Telecom Namibia, indeed came at the right time to assist the Ministry in ensuring that our learners have the necessary protective gear against Covid-19.
The education, arts and culture director of the Ohangwena region, Isak Hamatwi, added that there can never be an appropriate time for a joint effort to make the schools safer places than now when almost everyone in the country is affected by the scourge of covid19.
“The donation in the form of masks, sanitizers and sanitization stations serve as a reassurance to our learners and teachers that everyone in the land of the brave has their best interest at heart”, Hamatwi says.
He further added that Telecom, as well as the minister of education, should be assured that this donation is going to benefit some of the most disadvantaged learners from some of the remotest schools of the benefiting regions of ohangwena, omusati, Okavango west, Okavango east and the great Kunene. T
this gesture will put joy in the hearts of these remote communities.
The acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telecom Namibia, Laban Hiwilepo said that telecom will continue to provide their support to the ministry and in general to meet the efforts of the government.
