Swakopmunders staan saam teen geweld

Jessica Botes - 'n Menseketting is vanoggend van die landdroshof op Swakopmund tot by die middedorp gevorm in protes teen die onlangse vlaag van geweldsmisdade in die Erongostreek.

Inwoners het ook in stille protes voor die landdroshof tydens die hofverskyning van die drie beskuldigdes in die moordsaak van die bejaarde Strzelecki-egpaar byeengekom.

Die beskuldigdes, mnr. Jerobeam Simon Shidute (23), Fabianus Lazarus (24) en Daniel Stephanus Nghilifa (26), het na bewering vir me. Rosvietha Sieglinde Strzelecki (79) vermoor en haar man, mnr. Siegfried Paul Hermuth Strzelecki (82), tydens 'n rooftog op 2 August aangerand. Mnr. Strzelecki het 'n paar dae later aan sy beserings in die intensiewesorgeenheid van die Marie Douglas-sorgsentrum beswyk.

Die organiseerder van die optog, mnr. Clinton Lang, het aan Swakopmunders gevra om hande te vat as 'n simbool van Swakopmund se solidariteit.
