Augetto Graig - Pupkewitz Toyota launched the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ promotion on Saturday at their Windhoek showroom, introducing the immaculate all-new Toyota Starlet and the all-new Hilux Legend to the local market in a double release of contrast and class.

The Starlet is young, has #squad goals, and relishes the spirit of making space for fun, before making tracks.

Premium features like a full-colour multimedia touchscreen, automatic air-conditioning, push-button start and cruise control all accentuate how enjoyable being in this spunky Toyota can be. A fun night out doesn’t mean having to leave the car, according to the manufacturer.

From the entry-level Starlet 1,4 Xi manual model to the top of the range Starlet 1,4 Xr automatic, this automobile is designed for maximum driver engagement.

The Starlet features a 1,4 litre direct-injection petrol engine with variable valve tuning, which develops an impressive 68 kW of power at 6 000 revolutions per minute (rpm), and 130 Nm of torque at 4 200 rpm. Advanced engineering of the cylinder head and piston crowns further add to the engine’s easy drivability and optimisation of fuel economy, delivering and average fuel consumption between 5,1 and 5,4 litres per 100 km, says Toyota.

LEGEND

About the Hilux Legend Toyota is even more confident.

The Legend and Legend RS luxury bakkies come out either in x-tra cab variation or as double-cabs. These include the 2.8 GD- raised body Legend six-speed automatic, or the six-speed manual, or the 4x4 automatic or manual variations. The Legend RS and the 4,0 V6 4x4 variants are only available as double-cabs.

The “RS” stands for "roller shutter". Currently available on only 2,8 GD-6 4x4 Legend derivatives, the RS accessory package adds a motorised roller shutter to cover the load bed, which is linked to the bakkie’s central-locking system.

Luxury is closing off the contents in the back of the bakkie at a distance, with the touch of a button, on the keys safely in your pocket. The distinct new front grill and headlights integrated into the bumper design make the top of the range stand out.

QUALITY REFINEMENTS

Other top quality refinements to the traditional Hilux appeal include the electrochromatic rear view mirror which can auto-dim to reduce glare during night time driving, an eight inch touchscreen multimedia system incorporating audio visual navigation, Bluetooth, USB compatibility and the use of nine high-piower JBL speakers. The screen doubles as a display for the vehicle’s reverse camera.

The system can link to smart devices through Apple CarPlay and the Android Auto functionabilty, twinning with the display on your smartphone screen, and pushing the phone audio through the vehicle speakers.
