Star Teacher
Judy Sepiso
Principal and teacher at Moses //Garoëb Primary School
1. What motivated you to become a teacher?
I love helping people achieve their goals, and helping develop young ones is something I am really passionate about, so becoming a teacher was something I always wanted to do. I enjoy educating young ones and helping them to excel.
2. What do you enjoy about your job?
As a school principal and a teacher at the same time, I enjoy working with the professionals on my staff who are passionate about and committed to our learners’ success and I enjoy creating and building a strong vision for our school.
3. What is your favourite book and what do you do in your free time?
The Bible is definitely my favourite book. I spend time with my family, read the Bible and pray, take a walk every evening and prepare my lessons and activities for the next day. I always like to plan ahead and prepare for the next day.
4. What are some of the proudest moments in your teaching journey?
My proudest moments are seeing my former learners become productive citizens of our country like Fanuel Shinedima, our former dux learner, and many others who have become an inspiration to so many others. I am always proud to see my former learners reaching their goals and excelling, which is something that motivates and encourages me to continue enjoying and doing the work I do.
5. What are some of the challenges you encounter in your job and how do you solve them?
One of the biggest challenges I encounter at the school is the implementation of online learning. The school has few computers to cater to all the learners for their school work and research purposes, a situation that is hard for our learners. We wrote letters to non-governmental organisations for donations; hopefully we will get positive responses and the matter will be resolved soon.
