Mariselle Stofberg
Why did you decide to become a teacher?

My love for children and my desire to help those around me.

What were your aspirations at a younger age?

Growing up, teachers were the most respected people in communities. I have seen how they guide people and become role models to many.

What motivates you to get up every morning to go to work?

Success, and the desire to do something meaningful in my community. Knowing that my hard work and perseverance will help children in becoming successful one day.

How long have you been a teacher?

Almost two years.

Tell us about your challenges and how you overcome them on a daily basis.

Waking up was always a challenge but the thought of losing my job helps me overcome it.

What is one of the biggest lessons you've learnt from your learners?

There are so many things I have learnt from my learners but the biggest lesson is to be patient with them. Learners always deliver when they are not pressured.

What are your talents? What are you passionate about?

One thing I’m passionate about is art. I enjoy painting, making portraits.

What is your favourite book, song, place to visit in Namibia?

I don't have a favourite book yet, because I play with paint in my free time. My favourite song is Fight Song by Rachel Platten. I like visiting coastal areas, Swakopmud to be specific.

Tell us about your journey?

Adventurous, meeting new learners every year. They become part of my life by joining them in their joyful and sad moments, encouraging them when they fail and praising them when they do well. We become family
