Social distancing in a shack?
DR. A.C. OBHOLZER WRITES:
The weapons in the battle against Covid-19 are: social distancing (2m), uncrowding (less than 10 people), compulsory public masks, hand hygiene (water/soap), no touch awareness, cross ventilation, real low sugar foods and vaccination.
Covid-19 spreads by air and touch.
Unfortunately sixty percent of Namibians (poor and vulnerable) live in shacks. They have no windows, or are closed in winter. Bad, stale air is recycled spreading Covid-19, T.B., flue, measles and smoke!
Social distancing is not possible in a shack.
It is a disease incubator. Carbon dioxide levels are high.
Health inspectors must ensure a minimum of one open window per shack, whirlybird extractor on roof. This investment is better and cheaper than providing more hospital beds and oxygen.
Break the Cycle!
