Shinier halfyear for Namdeb
Jo-Maré Duddy - Namdeb reported an underlying earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of US$43 million or N$675 million for the six months ended 30 June.
Compared to the same halfyear in 2020, underlying EBITDA - a measure of a company's overall financial performance – increased by US$15 million or nearly 54%.
Anglo American, holding company of De Beers, in its latest set of interim financials said Namdeb produced 676 000 carats of diamonds in the six months under review. Year-on-year, production dropped by 193 000 carats or 22%.
However, the price per carat for Namdeb’s gems rose by 21% to US$578.
