Honderde Senegalese kiesers is Sondag verhinder om hul stemme in parlementêre verkiesings uit te bring vanweë vertragings met die uitreiking van identiteitskaarte, het kiesers en amptenare gesê.

Kiesers se name is ook van kieserslyste by stempunte gelaat, iets wat 'n groot verleentheid vir een van Wes-Afrika se mees stabiele demokrasieë is.

Opposisieleiers het pres. Macky Sall gekritiseer en sê hy probeer van politieke opposisie ontslae raak.

Politieke betogings in Dakar word gereeld deur 'n sterk teenwoordigheid van polisiebeamptes en die gebruik van traangas opgebreek.

Dakar se gewilde burgemeester, en een van die president se grootste teenstanders, Khalifa Sall, is in Maart vir bedrog in die tronk gegooi, iets wat hy sê polities gemotiveer is.

Pres. Sall, wat daarop trots is dat hy deursigtigheid en 'n stabiele, progressiewe demokrasie in Senegal gevestig het sedert hy in 2012 aan bewind gekom het, het die “gladde verloop” van Sondag se verkiesings verwelkom. -Nampa/Reuters
