Self-motivated and moving forward

Cloete attended school in Windhoek until grade 11, after which she transferred to Dar es Salaam International Academy Secondary School in Tanzania. She then applied for law school in Tanzania but dropped out because of the language barrier. She moved back to Namibia six years later and applied for a law degree course at the University of Namibia but ended up registering for an honours degree in marketing because her law application was late. With dreams to make it big in the marketing environment, Eunice Cloete is now the newly appointed sales administrator at Namibia Media Holdings.

Moving into a new environment is always challenging as one never knows what to expect. Cloete says she is making inroads by trying to understand the personalities she is working with and mastering the tasks that she has to complete. As a sales administrator, Cloete has the sole duty of selling online and newspaper space to companies who wish to advertise.

Spontaneous, hardworking and fun are some of the words that best describe Cloete, who is the mother of two beautiful sons as well as a student at the International University of Management (IUM).

“My sons keep me motivated; I know it’s a typical mother thing to say but it’s true,” says Cloete.

Born to a young mother, Cloete was legally adopted by her aunt and thus has lived with two mothers her whole life. She is reassured by her two mothers, who show her daily that everything is possible through their independent and hardworking nature.

Cloete believes firmly in the notion that iron sharpens iron and encourages other individuals to “know who you associate yourself with; this will make or break your future.”

When she was younger, reading took Cloete longer to learn but her vocabulary started to improve when she started travelling more and had no choice but to read.

After a long, stressful week, she likes to relax with a glass of wine, and in her free time she enjoys singing. The songbird has performed at public spaces such as the Warehouse Theatre and Avani hotel, but says she will not be dropping an album anytime soon.
