Second annual Cancer Ball launched

More than 5 600 Namibians were diagnosed with cancer in the last two years, with 3 587 cases reported in 2015 to the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN). The National Cancer Outreach Programme of Namibia, funded by the Cancer Ball, was initiated by CAN in August 2015 to address the need for rural awareness and education programmes and the screening of cancer. The Pascheka Group of Companies donated N$300 000 towards hosting the ball and funding the programme, and Spar Namibia as co-sponsor contributed N$200 000. Other sponsors include Distell Namibia, in particular Nederburg Wines, House of JC le Roux and Klipdrift, and Communi8 who are project partners. The second annual Cancer Ball of Namibia will take place on Saturday, 5 August 2017 at the Safari Conference Centre's grand ball room. Tickets are for sale at N$10 000 for a table of 10 persons; or N$2 000 per couple, and includes a three-course meal setting, lovely sundowners on the red carpet and wines on the table. Priscilla “Dessert Queen” Swartz will be performing, followed by an evening of “horse racing for charity” to raise funds.
