Sanlam warns clients about fake loans

Sanlam has taken note of a scam alleging that Sanlam is now offering personal loans to the public.

In a statement Sanlam distanced itself from the communique as it did not originate from any of their offices. "Sanlam does not offer the supposed “Sanlam Loan” and the communique which appears to have originated from South Africa but is currently circulating in Namibia is inaccurate and untrue," the company said.

The scam referred to offers among others; personal loans of up to R250 000 and home loans of up to one million Rands. The scam which appears in the form of a written letter, requests interested applicants to apply for their loans either by telephone, email or fax while insisting that no one-on-one communication is required.

"Sanlam wishes to take this opportunity to warm all current and potential clients about this scam. If you receive a letter, telephone call, email or fax relating to the alleged “Sanlam Loan”, please refrain from providing any personal information and contact the Sanlam Marketing Department on: office on +264 61 294 7607 or +264 16 294 7528 or email: [email protected]," the statement reads.
