Brave Warriors interim coach Bobby Samaria wants all his players to be fired up for the training camp, which begins today.

He said this after calling a strong 31-man squad in preparations of the 2020 African Nations Championship (Chan) finals slated for April.

“We do know that we face a tough task ahead of us and that is why I will need all the boys fired up and ready for hard work.

“I called 31 players but will only take 23 to the Chan finals,” Samaria said.

The coach further said that he will not be doing any favours to players but his final selection will be based on the assessments during training.

The national team coach faces a mammoth task to get the players prepared for the competition given that the Namibia Premier League remains on halt since the end 2018/19 season. Samaria however said the absence of the domestic league will not be an excuse.

“Yes, the situation our football is in at the moment is awkward but we just have to continue working hard.

“This is not something new to us because we qualified to the Chan finals without an active league before.

“The most important thing is getting the team to gel before the competition kick-off.”

The coach selected a mixture of old and new faces to boost the competition for places in the final squad.

Having new faces in the squad is something Samaria believes will motivate regular players to work harder to avoid being dropped.

The Fifa Normalisation Committee, which is running the affairs of the Namibia Football Association, is also currently on a hunt to secure sponsors for the team.

Namibia is currently ranked 117th in the world and 29th in Africa.

The players are:
